In June of 1981, George Payne, a veteran of 12 years in the business equipment industry, started Forest City Business Equipment from his grandmother's basement on Rectory Street.
At that time, it consisted of his spouse and one part-time employee and focused mainly on the repair of typewriters.
By November of that year, the company had seen such rapid growth that it was necessary to move into a building at 429 1/2 Hamilton Road where there was much more room.

In February of 1982, the company was incorporated and had added two more employees. The dealing of the company now encompassed the sale, service and renting of typewriters as well as calculators and dictation equipment.
By 1985, more staff had been added and renovations to increase space in the rented building had been completed. Even after the renovations it was soon decided that larger accommodations were required. As a result, in July of 1985 the company purchased the building which was located at 548 Hamilton Road. In 1987, we added Savin of Canada copier/fax products to our facet of equipment. MORE |
